What the evidence shows
CPI-U increased in each full calendar year of Trump’s first term: 2.1% in 2017, 1.9% in 2018, 2.3% in 2019, and 1.4% in 2020 (December-to-December). Inflation was generally low, especially in the pandemic year, but it was not zero.
False. Low inflation is not the same as no inflation.
