What the evidence shows

Premiums rose largely because driving and serious crashes rebounded after pandemic shutdowns while vehicle parts, repairs, medical care and replacement vehicles became more expensive. Industry analysis cited by AP estimated immigration’s contribution at about 0.07%. BLS reported motor-vehicle insurance prices down 5.1% over the year ending August 2026, but that timing does not establish Trump’s claimed causal mechanism.
