Smithsonian museums contain nothing about American success

Exhibits document scientific achievements, aviation, military history and gains by Black Americans, among other subjects. Those collections contradict a claim that success is entirely absent.

Federal grants spent $8 million “making mice transgender”

The cited grants studied how hormone therapy, sex differences, or gender-affirming hormones affect HIV susceptibility, asthma and other health questions. “Transgenic” mice are genetically modified animals and are not synonymous with “transgender”; some public lists also conflated the terms. See the NIH RePORTER grant database and FactCheck.org’s grant-by-grant review.

The U.S. is first in per-pupil spending and last in educational outcomes

OECD comparisons vary by level and method. The U.S. spends above average and especially heavily on tertiary education, but several countries spend more at K-12 levels. U.S. students are not last: in PISA 2022 they scored above the OECD average in reading and science and near the average in math. See the OECD U.S. Education at a Glance 2024 note and OECD PISA 2022 U.S. note.

Schools send children for sex-change operations without parental knowledge

No evidence was produced of a U.S. school performing or arranging such surgery without parental consent. The examples supplied by the campaign concerned policies on names/pronouns or disclosure, not surgical care. Surgery requires medical facilities and consent processes; school nursing practice does not include transition surgery.

The federal government runs U.S. schools

State and local governments already exercise primary control over curriculum, school operations and most K-12 funding. The federal department administers civil-rights enforcement, student aid, data and targeted programs; federal funding is a minority of K-12 revenue. See the Department’s federal role explainer and NCES revenue data.
